Hey All!
So I've had my Locs in for a two weeks now and i love it! I really do, my only thing is that with getting back to my yoga and all my hair is full of sweat and just has been a bit of an itchy mess lately. So I stopped by the Vitamin Shoppe/Drug Store and picked up a bottle of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Grape Seed oil.
For those of you that don't know, i do an ACV Spray.. where i mix a 3:1 ration of water to ACV, than add a mix of oils in there as well. Originally the bottle contained peppermint and tea tree oil with a few drops of olive oil. But this time i wanted more of a cleansing, less tingling mix. so i put the rosemary and tea tree, and added the grape seed for a light moisturizing oil.
(yea im still adding peppermint but wanted to see how this mix worked first)
Thursday night, before i hopped in the shower, i sprayed my scalp only, with the mix, and vigorously rubbed it in with the balls of my fingers (not the nails...we don't want an irritated scalp when vinegar's involved!) to help alleviate the dirt and buildup gained over the last week and half (especially after the work out i had in yoga yesterday!) I let it sit for a good 5-10 minutes and separated my hair in sections.
While i showered (which was awesome by the way after that workout) my hair was able to steam while i cleaned .. (hey that rhymed!)
So the ACV mix was in my hair for a good 15 minutes more, before i rinsed it out. I just used a cup, tilted my head over the tub/sink (pending on how you want to do it) and just let the water flow over my scalp. I of course rubbed it n around my edges and such to make sure that it really got out.
No one wants to smell like vinegar all day.
So after i finished my awesome shower and towel dried my hair i sprayed it with the Alikay Naturals Lemongrass leave-in conditioner and rubbed my oil mixture (horsetail, castor, jojoba, sweet almond, evoo) on my scalp after. I tied it with my satin scar and called it a night.
My scalp feels so much better and yea some itchy parts still (cause i know i didnt do a great wash just an alleviation of sorts) but yea its cleaner than it was before and the next time i wash is when these locs are coming out.

Face Time: African Black Soap & ACV
So its been almost a week since i started using the soap and my face has been less oily and my pores looks so much better. I use it as a face, hair and body wash..
with Apple Cider Vinegar as my toner.
Why am I using ACV as my toner?
Well there was a post on instagram that cited all the uses of ACV

So in the comments under the picture on IG (click on link to see) one of the IGers stated that they use it as a toner, so i was like cool, i use it to calrify my scalp (love me an ACV rinse or adding it to my washes/conditioners for an extra cleansing mix!) so i thought it would be perfect...
OHHHHHH THE BUUUUUUURRRRRRN!
the first couple of days were fine no burning or nothing, but the last few days, my skin felt tight and in like a pear shaped area from nose to mouth, the soap would burn the crap out of me! and to top it off my dumbass still used the ACV toner -___-
i was a trooper though lol..
i sucked it up
now i have two dark spots under each corner of my mouth that no matter how much i moisturize today will stay looking dry and peeling... SIGH!!!!
sigh, im just glad its friday.. hopefully it'll end by sunday

Super Cleansing Shampoo
Black Soap is good for dry, itchy scalp as well as Aloe Vera Gel and Apple Cider Vinegar. This isn't my first time using this mixture, actually its my third. And my scalp really appreciates its after my 2- or 3-week twist sessions.
In an applicator bottle, mix
- 1 ounce Aloe Vera Gel
- 1 ounce African Black Soap (I used Shea Moisture)
- 2 capfulls Apple Cider Vinegar
- You can add oils if you like, but i didn't this time cause of the hot oil treatment i did before shampooing.
while hair is in sections, wet hair first, then apply the mixture directly onto scalp. Rub it using your fingertips giving yourself a good head message! (pause), don't want to irritate your scalp too much with your nails.
This mixture is enough to shampoo your hair twice. The first time around i just focused on getting my scalp clean, not paying to much to my edges. The second time around i paid more attention to the edges than anything else.
Because of the dark color of the black soap you'll know once you've rinsed it all out. The water will stop being brown, lol.
Condition/Deep Condition afterwards then style as usual.

sweet relief spray
So I've used apple cider vinegar in the most for my no poo washes and dandruff washes. Now I'm using it as a dry shampoo inbetween washes when I wear my twists or want to wear them longer.
I just spray this on my scalp and run it in while I redo my twists. I've read in some posts that with the dry shampoos you're supposed to run your scalp with a wet cloth afterwards but I don't with this spray.

- 1-2oz ACV
- 1-2 tbsp peppermint oil
- 1 capfull lemon juice
- 1-2 tbsp evoo
- Fill with water
The amount you use all depends on the size of the bottle you have. Do it fully relieve the itch.. .no, but then again it just to stretch the style.
